We're still alive! - Huge changes for beta testers coming soon.

We're still hard at work getting this ready for a release update.
This next build coming out this week for beta testing will fix a lot of the problems a good number of people found with the game, and there's a ton of fixes for various things.
When we do actually release the build will be relatively final for a few months due to the fact that the save and loading game system isn't cross version compatible, something that's going to be hard to fix considering the size of the save files. When we attempted to make it human-readable, it ended up becoming several gigs for a single save file! Yikes! So that will have to be in a future update, once we change the serialization for save files.
Regardless we did do improvements to saving and loading so that an error will not result in a corrupted save file, along with a number of other things we're working on.
Among some of the changes in the upcoming next patch for testers:

Far-far better saving and loading.

Much, MUCH better text rendering.

UI Improvements

Added some mipmapping to some textures.

Fixed an issue with transfering fleets from one galaxy to another.

Added logging so support can assist you with any problems that may arise.

Fixed an issue where the alien controlled systems didn't draw a border.

Changed the console button to F11 from F12 for screenshots.

Fixed an error where Singularity/Black Hole weapons blew up the combat mode.

Rebellion civs now actually have actual names other than the filename for the config file. Whoops!

New graphics for energy being units.

Fix for Bioform, Energy, and Machine factories - they actually work now.

Rebalancing of unit-speeds, damage, and cost.

Fixed an issue with WarpEx not be pickable in the hyperdrive selector in the tutorial.

Other, smaller changes.
Give us a few days and we'll have that out to you. We're also debating putting up the game for open playtests after this upcoming update to get feedback.
Finally, we're writing a command line tool and a guide is in the works for the Steam workshop, so that you will be able to mod the game, know how to mod the game, and upload new mods so others can play!
Cheers,
