📍 Monday Devlog 17: Makin' Maps
Welcome back! This week has been busy for me, but I still managed to get a bit done. This will be a short log, but let's talk about some things anyway.
New "Hyper-Internet" map
Something I didn't expect when making the new "galaxy map" (now called the hyper-internet) is just how much work it took to reconfigure the zone select. There are a lot of cool animations and details I'd rather keep secret for now, but just know that navigating through the files is going to feel quite different in version 1.2. Tuning all the numbers and code to fit this map in involved adding a lot of number lists, overrides and other jank.
Web version hits 20,000 plays!
One last thing I'd like to mention: The web version hit 20,000 plays today! Not all of the readers on Steam may know this, but the web version of the game was the original version of the game that got us interested in making a Steam version. It was born out of a two week game jam, and despite how awfully janky it was, people raved about it more than any other game jam creation of ours. This is largely why we are here today with a full game on Steam with updates coming along. Thanks so much for supporting the development and letting the game go so far! <3 A controller system will be ready to show next devlog, and an open beta might be ready by then. We'll have to see. Sorry for the dev log being so short this time around, but still, thanks for reading, as always! -Encabulated Games
