One of the biggest threats you will face during your first moments in Chernobyl NPP will be fire and flames.
Those of you who have played the playtests version of the game already know that but fire is something that you need to constantly look out for. We've spared no efforts to make sure that they will remain a vital part of the gameplay but at the same time to give you the appropriate tools to deal with them. We've even observed significant feedback from your side regarding the flames and we're very thankful for that. Now let's jump into flames - don't worry, just metaphorically!

What you can see on the videos below is how the flames are designed and what is happening behind the scenes. You might have been wondering how do we created the flames mechanic and we are happy to showcase it and make it as easy to understand as possible. Notice the radius indicator around the point in which we've situated flames. By approaching this radius and entering its range you make yourself vulnerable to the flames raging on in the area. Not only will you start taking damage but you will also experience other effects that will let you know that you're entering a dangerous position - sound and visual effects will be there to highlight the threat and make sure you'll experience that "I want to get out of here!" feeling properly.

Another important thing is to remember that your distance from the middle point of the radius is important - the deeper you enter the "fiery circle" the more damaging the flames become.
Now, if you point your hose at the fire and start extinguishing it you will notice how the radius is getting smaller - meaning that your endavours in fighting the flames are sucessful. Combined with that you'll be able to see, in the real time in-game, how the fire is getting smaller and smaller before it dissipates completely marking your job as done. After you do that you can safely pass through the area that was previously unavailable. However make sure to look around after you do that. You do not want to enter another circle...

Extinguishing is one thing but making sure that you are always on your toes and ready to be suddenly put in a dangerous situation is important too. Always make sure to look out for yourself - that's the gist of it.
Thank you for your attention this week and see you again soon!
