Hi all! I've decided to do a dev log to expand on my reasons for the anti-cheat, as well as talk about what's coming next in the days to come, including a substitution for auto-clicking to make the game easier!
Difficulty Scaling
Next patch will introduce Difficulty Scaling to make the gameplay experience slightly harder. Currently, asteroids spawn at a fixed rate at a fixed amount with no variation, meaning that the game is slightly too easy as of current. Achievement progression is slow, score and kill progression is slow, and you can play without needing to move. With the introduction of difficulty scaling, for every minute that you're alive the asteroid spawn rate will slightly increase by small amounts. For every 5 minutes that you're alive, the amount of asteroids that spawn at a time will be increased by around 2-3. Hopefully with this, it'll make the game more challenging and more viable for longer play sessions. Now with Anti-Cheat preventing auto-clickers, you may be wondering how will it be possible late-game with your fingers not keeping up with clicking each and every asteroid. Well...
Full-Auto Weaponry
With Difficulty Scaling, full-auto guns will make the game much more balanced as the game gets harder. At the start of the game, the firerate will be slow, firing about 1 bullet every 0.7 seconds. Implemented and adapted for Difficulty Scaling, for every minute that you're alive the firerate will increase by a small amounts (capping at 0.2s cooldown). I believe the addition of Full-Auto gunning and Difficulty Scaling, the game will become more fair while challenging. However, what if there's too many asteroids to handle?
Shield Level 2
While not arriving with Difficulty Scaling, the level 2 variant of the shield will be arriving with Patch #5. Once you survive for 3 minutes, the shield component of your ship will automatically upgrade to Level 2, providing a way to destructively protect your ship against asteroids. More to be announced later.
Regards to Anti-Cheat
Thanks for some feedback regarding the anti-cheat. I understand that it made the game easier as you no longer had to click a thousand times. This is why full-auto is coming to the game! This new mechanic will eradicate the need for auto-clickers, removing any need to even be considering using one. With the full-auto update, the anti-cheat will also become more strict. This will lead to detecting auto-clickers earlier and punishing cheaters faster. However, if the full-auto weaponry doesn't please some, then I'll consider removing Anti-Cheat! That's all for today! Keep updated by joining our discord
