This update adds the following... 1. Massive improvement to the smoothness of the game. I've re-written, juggled around and decoupled a lot of things so that the physics speed no longer has much of an impact on how the game moves things around. End result is that you should be able to switch back to 50hz physics speed and still get the same (if not smoother) movement of 100hz! You can continue to use settings higher than 50hz but it really doesn't make much of a difference now. Key things to look at.... [list] [*] Flares now move smoothly through the air. [*] Tracers move more smoothly with less "strobing" effect. [*] Rotor blur effect is much better. [*] Camera movement is smoother. [*] Fly past view is smoother. [/list] 2. A number of physics based and asynchronous system optimisations that should result in a bit of a performance gain. 3. Added in an FPS limiter to the Video Options menu. This is mostly to prevent the menus running at a million fps ːlaughing_yetiː, but you can also use it to limit the frame rate closer to your screen refresh rate without using Vsync which is often preferable and this will help reduce heat/battery usage on laptops. The actual FPS the game will run at will often be slightly over what you actually set as it doesn't clamp exactly like Vsync does. Initial default is 60fps but it goes all the way up to 240fps for those with super-uber systems, or your can reduce it down to 30fps! 4. Finally fixed the engine smoke and fire effects so that they display correctly. 5. Optimised the automatic counter measures system so it is now clever enough to distinguish between missiles that are homing on your helicopter and those that are not sso no more wasted chaff/flares against missiles that have either already been spoofed or are going after your wingman! 6. Wingmen will now deploy flares against Stingers that you fire at them! 7. Improved the autopilots altitude hold system to be more stable when dealing with ground effect. ---- Unfortunately I didn't have time to get enemy helicopters actually flying around the mission zone.
