These last few days were really productive one in Tower Shield (despite some non-work distractions taking up a few days of my time) , as I was able to bring in the new Priest class into the game. We now have 4 of the planned 8 classes available , Barbarian, Rogue, Wizard and Priest. The sprite for the priest, done by my awesome artist Bokkimi ( who did the art for Swords and Sandals Immortals) is my favourite, a big bearded priest with a belly-full of ale and an even bigger grin. The priest's speciality is healing of course, with a 'mass heal' ability capable of getting the party out of strife. There are going to be 8 classes (with hopefully more to come )- Knight and Valkyrie are next, but I'd like to add a Paladin and *something* afterwards, not sure what. The other major addition to the game (as I talked of last time) are the class special skills. These are literally a game changer, adding a layer of strategy to the game that just wasn't there before. I really love how they've turned out. The idea is each hero has a skill unique to their class, which operates on a cooldown timer. Press the key corresponding to your hero, ( 1,2,3 or 4 ) and the skill will trigger. Some are instant, like the Wizard's lightning bolt and the Priest's mass heal, others last for a few seconds , such as the Rogue's haste and the Barbarian's berserk. This is the final list of skills for the heroes so far:

Barbarian - Berserk : Triple attack damage for a short time.
Wizard - Lightning : Damage every enemy on screen
Rogue - Haste : Double speed actions for a short time
Knight - Protect : Immune from damage for a short time
Priest - Mass Heal : Heal everyone in the group at once
Valkyrie - Stun : Enemies stunned for a short time. Previously you would gain XP for killing monsters and then when your bar was full, the game would pause and you would instantly level up. Now, when your bar is full, it turns gold, and at the end of the level, any heroes with a full XP bar will level up in sequence - this is a much better approach as it feels more within the flow of the game. Less interruptions! Next, I plan on adding in the 'meta-upgrade' system outside of the tower, whereby heroes can use their gold to spend on permanent upgrades for each run, unlockable heroes and so on. There is also a plan to add in special events between some levels , NPCs who appear offering to resurrect characters or give them powerful weapons for a price etc. Remember heroes, you can wishlist the game here. Until next time my friends! Cheers, Oliver Joyce Whiskeybarrel Studios
