This week in Tower Shield development was a week of user improvements and polishing. These are things you have to tackle at some point in your game, for me I like to balance out adding new features with iterating through what I have already and improving it. It helps make the Steam screenshots look better (and lord knows they need improving!!!) and gives me things I can show off on social media to help drive up interest in the game. This week, the main addition was a tutorial section of the tower. This is of course skippable ( until you finish the tutorial once, you are prompted if you want to do the tutorial ) . It only takes 100 seconds ( 5 levels ) , so its a super quick tutorial and just gets you familiar with the basics of the game via popup images. Once you finish the tutorial ( or you skip it ), the game begins properly at Tower Level 1, and from there you go through 10 levels until the first boss fight against the Cyclopes. This way you can have a hero on the north platform and the south, instead of adjacent to each other. Other minor improvements include the grass texture on the outer tower screen , and today I'm working on a new outer tower model that looks better suited to the pixellated style of the game. I'm working on making the inner tower and the shield itself better suited to the game too, it's tricky because they're 3D models but I just need to work on the texturing and so on. Thanks for reading thus far - and in case you're yet to wishlist, you can do so here! Cheers, Oliver Joyce Whiskeybarrel Studios
