[h1][b]Greetings Vikingar![/b][/h1] [i]Here we bring a development update from our solo developer on the current state of Skye and how things have been progressing![/i] I wanted to take a moment to both reflect on 2022 and also acknowledge that the game did not release this year as we had hoped. We made significant progress on the version 0.3 release and completed all of the necessary work to get us to launch, but we were unable to resolve some bugs and continuity issues with map transitions before the end of the year. The main issue for me has been with the loading and performance of the game, which we have been working to improve by migrating to the UE5 World Partition system and came so close to finishing before Christmas. I managed to reduce the loading time from around 6 minutes to 5 seconds which solved the worst of the issues but I just couldn't get through the last of the World Partition migration niggles in time. We understand that delays can be frustrating, and want to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are committed to delivering a high-quality game as soon as possible, that has always been the goal, and I will be continuing to work on it over the holiday season. I am hopeful that we will be able to launch the Pre-Alpha very early in 2023. I want to thank you all for your patience and support as we continue to develop the game. The scope of the release has grown significantly since we first started, and we now have multiple game modes, creative and hardcore options, two new huge maps to explore, and a whole host of new traversal and game mechanics. Looking back on the 0.1 version I started last year, which I still have and only included the 16sqkm test map I'd first created, the game has come a long way and I am excited to finally share this journey with all of you and look forward to stepping foot on the Misty Isle together!
