Hello Survival Typists! The big day is finally here! We are so excited to finally release the Early Access version of Glyphica : Typing Survival. We want to thank everyone who has given us feedback, especially our playtesters, without whom we would not have been able to fine tune the game. If you’re been playing the game for a while already, here’s a peek at what’s new for you. Our goal with Early Access was to bring the game to you with the basic gameplay loop in as polished a form as possible, then take the next 6 months to refine the concept and add more content to the game. We plan to update the game once a month for the next 6 months, with the final update culmination in the 1.0 release. Glyphica started out as a small project and was always meant to have a small scope. While we are attuned to the demands of our players, we have to be honest that there are certain limitations to what we can do to expand the game. This will be a constant negotiation between you and us, and we will do our best to bring out as much as we can with this game. But without further ado, here is what we are fully committed to doing! Augmentations The simple augmentation system from our demo was ripped out, and a new, more flexible one designed to take its place. There wasn’t quite enough time to implement it in the game for Early Access, however, and so this will be our first big update. We envision augmentations to be like Balatro’s jokers, and players’ favorite augmentations can be equipped to suit their playstyle. New weapons, Turrets, and Tags every Month! An expanded arsenal of weapons and turrets to play with is scheduled for nearly every month of post launch development, so you will always have something new to play with! New Bosses and Enemies With new weapons you need new targets! While bosses and enemies a little more difficult to and won’t come out at the same pace as weapons, we’ll always be thinking about new ways to making typing survival more difficult! Game Modes The game will come with a mission mode and endless mode, but on top of that we are looking into other game modes as well, possibly including a “pure” typing game mode where you see how long you can go without any upgrades or weapons. Themes and Customization Somewhat in line with custom wordlists, we plan on having themes for the game that change the mood of the game entirely. Do you want to play something a little more chill, or do you wanna rock out while you shoot down some pesky words, we got you! Down the road we do want to give the player more control over customization like fonts, music and stuff like that as well, but this may be a separate addition from themes which are intended to change the entire look of the game. Modding and Wordlists We are slightly limited by what we can do with modding, but we know that a lot of you are clamoring to have your custom wordlists in the game. That’s something we will definitely aim to add the the game! Advanced Languages Glyphica started out using only the Roman Alphabet, but we know now that there is a huge swathe of players interested in the game. While our selection of languages using the Roman Alphabet is already quite wide, we plan on expanding this languages that use different scripts. We already talked a little bit how this is actually more difficult than it sounds for us, but we’re committed to getting as wide a reach as possible! Statistics and Leaderboards While Glyphica is not necessarily an educational tool, we want you to be able to track your progress and see how you are improving over time. And we also know that the real reason you want to get better is to show your friends that you are better than them, so some sort of leaderboard integration is also in our plans. Conclusion Those are our current plans for post launch, set down in roughly the order we plan on tackling them. We estimate that this work will take us around 6-7 months, and the intent is to keep the scope of the game relatively small so that we can commit wholeheartedly to fulfilling them. Depending on the success of the game we may expand the scope, however we will always keep you informed if that will be the case. Thanks again for joining us on this ride everyone, and happy typing to you all!
