Dear Metas,
We're planning a server maintenance and update on October 17 at 12:00 noon (UTC+8). The maintenance is expected to last about 4 hours. Please plan your gameplay accordingly for the best experience.
Since the official launch of Once Human, we've been closely monitoring feedback from the community and working on fixes and optimizations.
Below are the details of this update.
New PvE Scenario - The Way of Winter
Scenario Profile
Name: The Way of Winter
Category: PvE survival and exploration
Unique Mechanic: Survive extreme temperatures
Description: Metas will travel to the snow-covered land of Arkam and join forces with a faction of local survivors known as the Column. Together, you will find ways to survive the extreme cold and heat and discover the secrets hiding within the mountains. You must also foil the dark plans of Igna, the leader of the Vultures, destroy the massive living machines causing climate disasters, and save the world from destruction once again.

New Region
In The Way of Winter, the new region of Arkam will be available, granting access to Onyx Tundra, Vena Fjord, and Ember Strand.

Exploration
The vast region of Arkam contains 60 riddle spots in the following seven types: [Frozen Loot Crate], [Ray Tracer], [Tiny Bear Balloon], [Doll Consortium], [Hoarder Rat], [Greedy Rat], and [Follow the Footprints]. Completing a riddle spot challenge will earn you a special reward.
In addition, The Way of Winter's map has 30 Scenic Viewpoints, typically found near locations with majestic natural or man-made wonders. If you encounter a Lonely Camera while exploring, interact with it to obtain a Scenic Viewpoint reward and unlock the corresponding Field Guide entry.
Precious Mystical Crates can also be found in the new region of Arkam, with five in each sub-region. Keep an eye out for those purple lights.
New Story and Tasks
Led by Igna, the Vultures of the north have built up a fanatical army powered by Chaosium and plan to use giant living machines to complete the apocalypse!
Meta-Humans, the world needs your help once again. You must stop Igna from achieving his plans!
1. Added The Way of Winter story tasks.
2. Added The Way of Winter journey and season goals.
3. Added The Way of Winter commission tasks.
Temperature System
Following the update on October 17, Once Human will include a temperature mechanic that applies in all scenarios. The Way of Winter takes place in the far north where extreme temperatures dominate, making survival much more difficult. This will not affect players playing in the Evolution's Call, Manibus, and Prismverse's Clash scenarios.
The temperature system is composed of two main factors—temperature and resistance. Temperature is affected by region, weather, time of day, environment, and certain items, while resistance determines how much you can withstand extreme temperatures. The higher your resistance, the less you will be impacted by scorching or freezing environments.

New Wonder - Thermal Tower
A type of Wonder, the Thermal Tower is a huge structure that can alter the temperature and environment over a large range, influencing the course of the world. After The Way of Winter enters its second seasonal phase, you can unlock the Thermal Tower under Memetics.

New Dynamic Weather System
More weather types with various environmental effects are now available. Extreme weather conditions offer a more challenging survival experience.
Changes in the weather, temperature, and other environmental factors will have a series of effects on Metas, enemy units, and buildings and facilities.
Chaosweaver Events
Chaosweavers are gigantic and mysterious living machines. Wherever they emerge, blizzards or volcanic storms follow, severely worsening survival conditions. As the seasonal phases progress, Chaosweavers will become stronger and appear more frequently. Locate and defeat them to end their disastrous influence and earn rewards.

Scenario Reselection Special Event
Event Period: October 17–November 17
The rules are as follows:
1. During the event period, if a player joins a scenario that isn't to their expectations, they can exit the scenario within 24 hours without incurring any cost.
2. If more than 24 hours have passed since the player joined the scenario, they must use a [Scenario Exit Card] to exit the scenario.
3. [Scenario Exit Card] can be purchased for 1x Mitsuko's Mark at the Season Shop during the event period.
4. When exiting a scenario, resources obtained will be carried over based on the abiding season transfer rules.
5. To ensure fairness and maintain a high-quality gaming experience, this feature has a 60-day cooldown period after being used. Please use it carefully based on your needs.
6. Players who use this feature to exit the Novice Scenario cannot join the Novice Scenario again. As non-novice scenarios feature higher difficulty levels, please proceed with caution!
Gameplay Optimizations
Deviation Optimizations
1. Optimized the method for using and controlling Combat Deviations. Players can now click once to use a Deviation quickly.
2. Fixed the issue where some Securement Units in the wilderness could be interacted with multiple times in a short time (with no output).
3. Adjusted the following Combat Deviations:
Butterfly's Emissary: Increased model visibility. Improved AI for better target selection.
Polar Jelly: Optimized attack visual effect.
Festering Gel: Optimized AoE healing visual effect. Optimized hitbox that better fits its model.
Enchanting Void: Removed the wind-up animation before it is thrown.
Mini Feaster: Revamped the Touch of the Abyss combat effect. Mini Feaster will now follow the player, generate tentacles more frequently, and provide a Status DMG buff. Improved AI to reduce unnecessary movement.
Shattered Maiden: Reduced delay after appearing or attacking. Improved target selection AI.
Zeno-Purifier: Improved target selection AI. Zeno-Purifier will now attack targets designated by or near the player.
4. Adjusted the Deviant Power expenditure of Combat Deviations to improve their effectiveness. Most Deviations now have reduced Deviant Power expenditure when on standby or moving. Instead, Deviant Power will mainly be expended when the Deviation attacks or uses a skill.
5. The Season Shop has added seasonal loot crates for Deviations exclusive to Prismverse's Clash—the Berserkosaurus Rex and The Radiant One. All players can redeem them using Mitsuko's Marks.
Mod Optimizations
To make collecting mods more enjoyable, the mod system has been adjusted in this update as follows:
1. If, previously, using a Controller in a dungeon may drop Legendary weapon mods from multiple builds or armor mods for various parts, a Self-Selection Loot Crate containing these mods will now be dropped instead.
For example, the Ravenous Hunter dungeon on Hard Mode drops Burn or Frost Vortex weapon mods. After this update, a Weapon Mod Self-Selection Loot Crate will be dropped instead, allowing you to choose either the Burn or Frost Vortex weapon mod.
As another example, Securement Silo - EX1 on Hard Mode drops random mask mods. After the update, three types of Self-Selection Loot Crates will drop instead, containing Burn, Power Surge, and Unstable Bomber mask mods; Shrapnel, Bounce, and Fast Gunner mask mods; and Frost Vortex, Fortress Warfare, and The Bull's Eye mask mods respectively.
These changes affect Monolith boss dungeons on Hard and Pro Modes, Securement Silo dungeons, and major phases of LEA Research Lab dungeons.
2. Mod Self-Selection Loot Crates can now be redeemed in limited quantities from the Stronghold NPC "Severin." These loot crates allow you to choose a weapon mod of any build or an armor mod for any part. The mod obtained is guaranteed to include an Epic attribute.
3. In the mod conversion feature, target mods are now unlocked permanently once the conditions are met. They do not need to be unlocked again upon entering a new season.
4. Obliterate mods have been adjusted as follows:
Obliterate's effect increases Shrapnel DMG by 15% per part hit. This DMG increase is now capped at 45%.
Accessory Optimizations
1. Added a control to switch between ammunition types. Players can now hold the Reload button ('R' key by default) to quickly switch ammo types.
2. Added new optics: Precision Holographic Sight, ALPHA Holographic Sight, Loner Reflex Sight, Simple Reflex Sight, Grizzly Reflex Sight, Raptor Optic Sight, and Advanced Sniper Sight.
3. Added new muzzles: Quick Flame Brake, Multi Brake, Assault Brake, Range Compensator, Simple Suppressor, Tactical Suppressor, and Stealthy Suppressor.
4. Added new weapon accessories: Angled Grip, Elite Vertical Grip, Mobile Vertical Grip, Light Grip, Guardian Front Grip, and Small Flashlight.
5. Fixed the issue that sometimes made it difficult to hit targets when firing at close range.
Deviant Optimizations
We have optimized Deviants as follows:
1. Greatly reduced the amount of DMG needed to remove the special statuses of Super Anomalies.
2. The Super Anomalies - Void and Regen, and Coherence Devices (attachments on Super Anomaly - Coherence) are no longer immune to non-countermeasure DMG. Instead, they take reduced non-countermeasure DMG.
3. Super Anomalies now require more time to recover their special statuses once removed.
Task Optimizations
1. Optimized the display of dialogue options.
2. Added a cutscene for the Secret Servitor boss in Zone of Haze.
Public Crisis Event Optimizations
1. Added the Disturbance mechanic to the "Surge of Fish" Public Crisis Event. When players fish in the event zone, they will accumulate Disturbance. Upon reaching a certain amount of Disturbance, the fish surge will be upgraded to a higher quality, attracting more rare fish.
2. Optimized the Sproutlet drop rules when attacking the host in Cargo Conquest. Sproutlet drops now require less DMG to trigger, but now have a 5-second cooldown between drops.
Vehicle Parking Rules Optimizations
The rules for parking vehicles have been adjusted to prevent any negative impact on other players.
1. Regular vehicles (motorcycles, coupes, and off-roaders) will be automatically recalled if left unused for an extended time. The vehicle owner can then summon the vehicle again as needed.
2. Trucks and pickups may be recalled to the Garage if parked in areas where construction is not allowed. A warning will be displayed to inform the player.
3. A no-parking zone has been added at the entrance to Blackfell. Trucks and pickups left in the no-parking zone for a certain period will be automatically recalled to the Garage.
