Description: Metas will travel to the snow-covered land of Arkam and join forces with a faction of local survivors known as the Column. Together, you will find ways to survive the extreme cold and heat and discover the secrets hiding within the mountains. You must also foil the dark plans of Igna, the leader of the Vultures, destroy the massive living machines causing climate disasters, and save the world from destruction once again.

[b]New Region
World Region[/b]
In The Way of Winter, the new region of Arkam will be available, granting access to Onyx Tundra, Vena Fjord, and Ember Strand.
Onyx Tundra is located in the east of Arkam. Here, you can encounter a frozen ocean, ride a cable car to the mountainous region at the southern border, visit a vibrant dessert town and a theme park built on a tundra that glistens like colored onyx, and build the territory of your dreams.
In central Arkam lies Vena Fjord, with its secluded and winding shoreline, slopes of iridescent grass, and the tallest peak in the land. Take on the mountain's freezing temperatures, zipline across tall chasms, or stay safely in your territory on the lush greenery.
East Arkam is home to the vastly different Ember Strand, a hot and treacherous region dominated by a roaring volcano known as Mount Firethroat. The crimson volcano is surrounded by scorching lava, sulfur springs bathed in yellow mist, and all-consuming ash. Anyone who dares tread foot here must be prepared to confront the extreme heat, cross lava obstacles, and establish a territory representing humanity's hope in this terrible yet wondrous region.
[b]Exploration[/b]
The vast region of Arkam contains 60 riddle spots in the following seven types: Frozen Loot Crate, Ray Tracer, Tiny Bear Balloon, Doll Consortium, Hoarder Rat, Greedy Rat, and Follow the Footprints. Completing a riddle spot challenge will earn you a special reward.
In addition, The Way of Winter's map has 29 Scenic Viewpoints, typically found near locations with majestic natural or man-made wonders. If you encounter a Lonely Camera while exploring, interact with it to obtain a Scenic Viewpoint reward and unlock the corresponding Field Guide entry.
Precious Mystical Crates can also be found in the new region of Arkam, with five in each sub-region. Keep an eye out for those purple lights.

Led by Igna, the Vultures of the north have built up a fanatical army powered by Chaosium and plan to use giant living machines to complete the apocalypse!
Meta-Humans, the world needs your help once again. You must stop Igna from achieving his plans!

[h3][b]Temperature System[/b][/h3]
Following the update on October 17, Once Human will include a temperature mechanic that applies in all scenarios. The Way of Winter takes place in the far north where extreme temperatures dominate, making survival much more difficult. This will not affect players playing in the Evolution's Call, Manibus, and Prismverse's Clash scenarios. The temperature system is composed of two main factors—temperature and resistance. Temperature is affected by region, weather, time of day, environment, and certain items, while resistance determines how much you can withstand extreme temperatures. The higher your resistance, the less you will be impacted by scorching or freezing environments.
[i]Example: Normally, you will become Cold when the temperature is 10°C or below. However, if you have 10 Cold Resist, 10°C will feel comfortable, and you will only become Cold at 0°C.[/i]

If you are exposed to hot or cold temperatures without enough resistance, your body temperature will fall, leading to harm. The longer you remain under extreme temperatures, the worse that harm will become, ultimately leading to death. If you return to a comfortable temperature, your body temperature will return to normal, and your illness will be healed. Some dishes also help to restore body temperature or treat illness.
[b]Resisting Extreme Temperatures[/b]
[b]Gear[/b]
1. After the October 17 update, animals will begin to produce different types of hides, which you can use to craft gear with varying effects. Crafting tops or pants with hides that provide temperature resistance will help you to survive the Snowy Realm's extreme temperatures. The item for repairing armor will also be changed from rawhide to leftovers, a new item type. Leftovers can be crafted at the Supplies Workbench after learning the Leatherworking Memetic.
2. Some existing weapons have also been updated with temperature effects, including the Torch and Frozen Northern Pike. Holding these weapons will affect the environmental temperature, and using them to attack will also raise or reduce the target's temperature.
[b]Dishes[/b]
Crops grown in the Snowy Realm will grant the ability to resist extreme temperatures. Eating Sunny Ginger, Polar Pepper, or Spike Fruit will increase your Cold Resist, while consuming Mint or Ice Melon will raise your Heat Resist. Dishes made with these ingredients will have stronger resistance effects and can even change your body temperature and cure illness.
[b]Tools and Tactical Items[/b]
1. The Way of Winter's Memetic system includes many tools and tactical items that can resist extreme temperatures. These include Heatium, which can be crafted at the Supplies Workbench and increases your Cold Resist, and the Frost Grenade, which significantly reduces the temperature within its blast range.
2. Some existing tactical items have also been updated with temperature effects, such as the Molotov Cocktail and Thermite Grenade, which now greatly increase the temperature within their blast ranges. There are also many other ways of manipulating the temperature that you can test and discover for yourself.
[b]Buildings and Facilities[/b]
1. In The Way of Winter, you can unlock temperature control facilities via Memetics. These facilities can control their surrounding temperature if given enough fuel.
2. Existing facilities such as bonfires and burning oil drums have also been updated with temperature effects. Be careful not to get burned by them during your adventure.
[b]New Temperature Control Facilities[/b]
1. Cooler: Reduces the surrounding temperature.
2. Warmer: Increases the surrounding temperature.
3. Simple Vintage Stove: Reduces or increases the surrounding temperature depending on the type of fuel added. Its effect ends when it runs out of fuel.
[b]Other[/b]
1. Body Sizes: in Way of Winter, changes in body size will lead to variations in temperature resistance.
2. Dampened: Swimming in water will grant the Dampened state that increases Heat Resist but reduces Cold Resist.
3. Zipline: Can be used to cross terrain.
[h3][b]New Wonder - Thermal Tower[/b][/h3]
1. A type of Wonder, the Thermal Tower is a huge structure that can alter the temperature and environment over a large range, influencing the course of the world. After The Way of Winter enters its second seasonal phase, you can unlock the Thermal Tower under Memetics.
2. Unlike normal buildings, the Thermal Tower cannot be placed inside your territory and must be built outside of it. Thermal Towers cannot be built close to each other, and their effective areas cannot overlap. A Thermal Tower cannot be moved once built, so choose its location carefully. Each player can only build one Thermal Tower.
3. After placing a Thermal Tower, you can upgrade its tech. The Thermal Tower has four modules, namely the Reactor, Thermostatic Cover, Defense Structures, and Radiator. Each module has eight types of tech to upgrade. Once upgraded, the Thermal Tower will gain enhanced temperature control and provide various bonuses.
4. The Thermal Tower has Depot functionality, allowing you to store important resources. The Thermal Tower's tech upgrades and operation costs are deducted from its Depot.
5. The Thermal Tower runs on Chaosium. The greater its temperature effect and radiation range, the faster it expends Chaosium. If the Depot runs out of Chaosium, the Thermal Tower will stop functioning.
[b]Thermal Tower Defense[/b]
An operating Thermal Tower will produce Chaosium Waste. Once Chaosium Waste reaches 80%, it can be purified into usable Chaosium and other resources from the Thermal Tower's management screen. During purification, you must defend your Thermal Tower from enemy attacks.
After the purification is complete, rewards will be distributed automatically to all players within the Thermal Tower's range.
[b]Thermal Tower Control Permissions[/b]
1. The player who built a Thermal Tower is its owner.
2. Other players can apply to join the Thermal Tower. The owner can manage and approve applications from the Thermal Tower Permissions screen.
3. Players with control permissions can click the Recruit button to ask nearby players to help to build the Thermal Tower.
* Squads in The Way of Winter can have up to 16 members.
[b]New Dynamic Weather System[/b]
More weather types with various environmental effects are now available. Extreme weather conditions offer a more challenging survival experience.
Changes in the weather, temperature, and other environmental factors will have a series of effects on Metas, enemy units, and buildings and facilities.
[b]Chaosweaver Events[/b]
Chaosweavers are gigantic and mysterious living machines. Wherever they emerge, blizzards or volcanic storms follow, severely worsening survival conditions. As the seasonal phases progress, Chaosweavers will become stronger and appear more frequently. Locate and defeat them to end their disastrous influence and earn rewards.

[b]Chaosweaver Combat Mechanics[/b]
Entropy represents the ultimate rule of chaos in the world, and man-made vessels can only contain it temporarily. From the moment they awaken, the magnificent Chaosweavers are already in the process of disintegration. As they dissolve from the inside out, their seemingly impenetrable armor hides a fatal vulnerability. If any part of a Chaosweaver is destroyed, the unvented energy within it will grow even more violent, melting its armor and exposing even deeper weaknesses, until nothing is left to cover the artificial sun at its core. Hence, so long as you have sufficient patience, accuracy, and courage, you will be able to dismantle these outwardly invincible titans step by step.
[h3][b]Scenario Season Rules[/b][/h3]
[b]Seasonal Phases[/b]
1. The Way of Winter consists of five seasonal phases, lasting 7, 8, 10, 10, and 28 days respectively.
2. Like the existing scenarios, the first four phases are the main gameplay phases. During the last phase, you can sign up for a new scenario and wait until it begins.
[b]Phase 1 - Arctic Domain[/b]
Duration: 7 days
The raging wind and snow devastate everything in their path. Prepare yourself to survive in the extreme environment of the Snowy Realm.
Gameplay Features: Public Crisis Events, Hales' Moving House, Cargo Conquest, and Securement Silos are available.
Vena Fjord and Onyx Tundra are available.

[b]Phase 2 - Scattered Ash[/b]
Lava flows and surges, and the scorching air carries away all hope. The extreme climate brings only arduous challenges.
Duration: 8 days
Gameplay Features: Ember Strand is accessible. All sub-regions of the Snowy Realm are now accessible. The new prize pools Destructive Flames and Blazing Fire are available. Dungeons are available in Hard Mode. The season progress task Eliminate the Chaosweaver is available.

Deep in the snowy mists, giants of ice and fire begin to rise, shaking the earth. The north shall soon be enveloped in the shadow of annihilation.
Duration: 10 days
Gameplay Features: The event Frost and Flame is available: the most powerful Chaosweavers will spawn, affecting temperature over a large range, and can now be completely defeated. The new prize pools Tranquil Frost and Frost Domain are available. The seasonal progress task Eliminate the Chaosweaver is available. The seasonal progress task Upgrade and Defend Wonder - Thermal Tower is available.

[h3][b]New Monoliths[/b][/h3]
Rift Space - Secret Servitor: In this Rift Space, flowing tides of light and dark matter result in the stunning spectacle of interchanging day and night. The Secret Servitor guards every door to where its creator slumbers. Be wary of the threats hiding within this ever-changing, topsy-turvy world where light and shadow intertwine.
Rift Space - Treant: The Snowy Realm's frigid temperatures have penetrated this Almit-grade Rift Space, burying it in snow and resulting in prodigious changes to the Treant within. Be on guard against temperature changes as you take on this freezing challenge.
[b]Securement Silos[/b]
Securement Silo - Delta: Delta is a den of pleasure belonging to the Vultures and is full of dangerous temptations. Control your impulses and do not fall into their demented traps, or you will pay with your life.
Securement Silo - Taurus: If not for the Starfall, this elegant museum would never be filled with these dirty and grimy oil drums and weapons. The Vultures, of course, aren't interested in art—it's the mysterious world within the paintings that they're after.
Securement Silo - EX1: Unlike H73's prison on Chalk Peak, Rosetta has managed to maintain partial order here, and the Siren has not been able to escape its securement barricade. However, another Deviant seems to be moving beneath the flickering traffic lights...
Securement Silo - PSI: This mine is occupied by Deviants, their securement having long been breached. The bone-chilling cold from its depths relentlessly saps your body heat, as if trying to turn you into part of itself...
[b]New Challenges[/b]
Stardust Challenge - Zone of Haze: Even today, humanity knows little about the ruins in the Zone of Haze. Only one thing is certain—these ruins were built by a distant and great civilization, now lost. If you find the secrets hidden within these ruins, you may glimpse a portion of that civilization's former glory.
[h3][b]New Deviations[/b][/h3]

The following Deviations have been added:
1. Tar Pudding: Gathers fuel around the territory and increases fuel refining speed when assigned to a Refining Facility.
2. ZapCam: Attaches to your back. When you are in OTS or scoped mode, it will lock onto a part of the enemy and deal damage.
3. Hydronaut Fish: When activated, it gathers sea-water from outside your territory, occasionally yielding fish. Also increases production speed when assigned to a Water Filter or Brewing Barrel.
4. Invincible Sun: Deals Blaze DMG to a designated target.
5. Snowsprite: Continuously generates Ice Crystals near the target. Ice Crystals shatter when shot, dealing Frost DMG to nearby targets.
6. Ice Pot: Produces ice blocks with magical adhesiveness.
7. Gazocchio: Patrols your territory and attacks suspicious targets. Its beams of light can paralyze enemies.
