Story
Lilja is a gifted painter whose intellect exceeds the limits of human imagination, possessing a vision of the world so vivid that merely copying it onto a canvas creates a masterpiece. However, upon losing her sight and mobility to a disease, her world is reduced to a numb nothingness. Unwilling to endure the pity from those around her, she resolves to move to Japan and live in solitude.
Natsuka, on the other hand, is a wanderer at heart who lives each moment to the fullest despite her meager lifestyle. One fateful day, she is hired by Lilja for a deceptively simple task: to observe the world and narrate her experiences, illuminating Lilja’s world once more. As they continue to spend time with each other, Natsuka comes to deeply respect Lilja and treasure their companionship.
Together, they take on a series of painting commissions—only the ones that Lilja deems worthy of their time. Each client she chooses, even if they do not realize it themselves, is tormented by a past that they cannot overcome alone. Lilja may have the means to discover the truths about each client on her own, but it is up to Natsuka to find the colors that she needs to complete her paintings.
The blue of reminiscence, the green of monsters, the red of martyrdom... With each pigment the pair uncovers together, they are one step closer to encountering the “light” that gives color to the world.
You being by my side, as I tell you all about the world around us, has made this world so much more beautiful than before.
