Johnny “Harmon” Wild is available from the very start, while other characters need to be unlocked by fulfilling dedicated quests.
There are 49 unique skills in total, each with a max level special power. Every champion has a set of 20 skills. The majority of skills is available to one champion only, 4 skills are accessible to all champions and 3 skills are shared by only two champions. In result, each champion owns 14 skills restricted to that champion, 4 are shared with all champions and 2 are shared with one other champion.
There are 3 biomes, where each has its one set of enemies and some individual specifics. For now we are giving you 10 playable stages in total (5 in the first biome, 4 in the second biome and 1 in the third biome). Each stage belongs to one of several game modes, where each mode requires fulfilling a different objective.
Elimination mode - you need to defeat a certain number of enemies. When it’s done there appears an elite variation of a common enemy, much tougher than its basic form. When the elite enemy is gone, you need to kill more common enemies and in result - another two elites. Finally, there appears a boss that is the final target of the mode. For every killed elite you get rewarded with gold that you can spend on e.g. passive Upgrades. You also get a bonus reward if you manage to complete the stage under a specific time limit.
Survival mode - as the name suggests, your task is to survive for a specified time (currently 20 minutes for each survival mode stage). In this mode you get extra reward based on the number of enemies defeated.
Conquest mode - in this mode your mission is to conquer specified conquest zones. Get to the zone and remain in its perimeter for 30 seconds to conquer it. Conquer the indicated number of zones to complete the stage. In this mode you get rewarded for every conquered zone (and the prize for a single conquest increases with the conquered zone).
Boss Combat mode - the final stage of every biome. From the very start, you fight the biome’s boss! However, after taking down every 10% of the boss's health, there appears an elite enemy (or enemies) and the boss becomes immune until the elite is taken down.
Once the stage is complete, you get access to the next biome.
Capture The Mushroom mode - currently available only in the first biome. It’s an “off road” stage that is played infinitely. Your task is to deliver Megashrooms - unusual mushrooms that can be used to create a magical soup giving an incredible power. Find the Megashroom, bring it to the cauldron, wait a short moment until the soup is boiled and begin the rampage!
We are very curious how many Megashrooms you manage to deliver 🙂.
Different modes mean not only different goals per se but also different ways to achieve them. Depending on the stage played, we will probably need to try out different skills build or item setup. Therefore, despite playing the same champion, you will very likely need to consider different strategies to achieve victory.
During every run you will be able to find Treasure Chests (mostly dropped by elite enemies, but there are also few other ways to get a chest). Chests may contain either magical runes (regular and rare ones) that provide bonuses for skills. There are also Artifacts - rare powerful items that may alter and improve a specific skill or grant totally new powers or bonuses. Currently there are just 9 of them available, but more will come with future updates.
All items can be sold. The gold earned by selling items or fulfilling goals of stages can be spent on Upgrades (passive powers available for all champions) or… rare runes purchased in the Merchant store. Merchant store is a separate menu screen accessible from the main menu. Note - it needs to be unlocked before you can go shopping.
More stages, artifacts and random side-quests are about to come in future updates. For now we are polishing the content planned for the upcoming EA launch plus a couple of finishing touches.
We can’t wait for release and for your feedback once the game is ready for you to play!
