Yo dawg! I herd u liek maps!
So as many of you might have noticed, steam would have made your copy of evolution rts a little bit larger (about 600 mb larger). This is because the map pool that is included with the game was increased from 10 high quality maps to 30. Bit of a large jump, but these newly added maps are great!
New Linux Builds!
Last night we pushed the first linux builds out the door. They should work flawlessly (you can thank windows users for finding all the bugs and dealing with them :-)), but if you have any trouble, make sure to post on the forums and we'll get you sorted.
Evolution RTS Get-Together #26
Evolution RTS Get-Together #26 happened earlier this morning. We had a bunch of great games and as usual, streamed the entire thing. Due to some difficulties parts of the stream won't make it to youtube, but I will push over as many of the games as I can. Sorry for not making the announcement on G+ and here. I completely forgot. Sorry about that!
Unit weapon switching!
Coming soon to an Evo near you... Units with switchable weapons! Lolwut? Yep, exactly what! Various units will be gaining the ability to switch to other weapon types via a button on the order menu (when you have the selected). For example, the Wildcat gunship will be gaining the ability to switch from air-to-surface missiles, to torpedos. This will allow you to kill those pesky amphibs that keep coming from underwater! Obviously this change is directly linked with the fact that in the future, submarines will have been added. Along these lines, in the latest update, you might have noticed that many buildings like factories/turrets/radar/etc gained the ability to float. This is also in anticipation of the new tech. It's coming! No doubt about that. As a bit of control... Keep in mind, yes I am hyping this new tech a bit (Because it will be fun! True water warfare?? Yes please!), and yes I do have it mostly mapped out in my head, but making models and getting those models ingame does take time, so be patient and know that I spend a large portion of my free time working on things like this :-) I suppose you can feel free to monitor the svn changelog on the main site if you like, but that's probably taking it a bit far lol!
