Hey Critters! We're launching into Early Access in less than 24 hours, so we thought now would be a great time to share with you all what we'll be working on during our Early Access period, along with some common questions about tomorrow. We're going in with a strong plan and have two big updates already in the works that we can share the info for right away!
The Roadmap
Tomorrow... we launch! Here's a full list of the upcoming features you'll be able to enjoy from tomorrow, including over 300 bug fixes and QoL improvements from the demo: After launch, we'll start work on our first major update, which will include an expansion to the world of Critter Cove that will increase its size by ANOTHER third, along with some more major questlines and adding the bakery and gym to the village. You'll be able to create your own Critters that will appear in the world, and we'll be adding seasonal events and birthdays for even more variety: These plans are of course subject to change. We might move some stuff earlier, we may push some stuff back, and we'll certainly be adding and tweaking stuff based on YOUR feedback. But after a year of demos and playtests and working with our community, we're confident these next two HUGE updates will be exciting and meaningful. Our early access launch is really just the start of our journey, so we'd love for you to join us tomorrow and be a part of it.
What languages will Critter Cove launch with?
Tomorrow we'll be launching the game in English, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, French and Russian. We're still working on a German and Spanish translation, which we'll be adding during Early Access. To avoid confusion, we've removed German and Spanish from our Steam page a few weeks back, but just a further notice that it may be a little while before those go in!
Carrying saves from the demo
Tomorrow you should be able to simply load the main game and play straight from your demo save without having to mess with any files. Due to how Steam works, this is something that is tricky to test before launch. If there are any problems that come up during launch, or any additional steps required, we'll post about them here, on Discord, and on the forums. Once you've saved in the full game though, don't try to load that save in the demo! This could lead to your save corrupting. We recommend that you uninstall the demo after you've installed the main game and never look back.
Our future save plans
Our plan is to develop the game in a way where you won't have to restart the game at any point and can still pick up your save during each update. We cannot absolutely guarantee this of course, but we've successfully managed to make our demo compatible with the main game despite the main game having a huge amount of updates, so we're hoping we can continue that process throughout all of Early Access.
How to contact us
The best place to hang out for support and help with the game will be our Discord, but we'll also be keeping an eye on the Steam forums if you need help.
