Howdy pardners!
It's been a busy launch weekend. Pop was feeling quite generous when buying cards from the player at his card shop, paying as much as thousands of Card Shards for a few common cards. However I've been told Pop's learned his lesson now that his savings have been decimated, and will now pay a reasonable amount per card. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who's been leaving feedback and reporting bugs on the Steam Discussion Forum. It's helped me immensely to hunt down bugs and get patches shipped fast. It was also an absolute joy watching players collaborate on card locations, deck strategies, and game knowledge on the forum as well. Genuinely there is nothing I enjoy more then seeing people interact with things I've made, so thank you from the bottom of my teeny tiny little heart.
Future Plans
After a weekend of patching bugs, things are looking stable. I'm working on this game solo, so thank you for your patience while I bash bugs as they pop up. Bugs will always be my top priority, so I may shift back to them as they come up - but I wanted to lay out where my focus will be going forward otherwise.
QOL Updates
I've already seen a few suggestions for QOL updates, so this will be my next major focus. Please continue to bring up things you would like to see, or give input on suggestions of others. It helps me know what to prioritize when I see an idea get more discussion. I absolutely cannot promise everything on this list will make it into game but a few popular suggestions on my radar are: - More filters in the Deck Editor (Card type, set, etc.) - Selling cards checking your deck as well as your bag - Improvements to the enemy AI - Steam Deck support (this may end up needing the trackpad of the Steam Deck to function)
DLC/Followup Game
I think any indie dev could tell you about the pile of ideas that they had to cut before launch. I had to keep the scope of Cardaire as small as possible given my resources as a solo dev, but wanted to give a slice of the world I had envisioned. I'm proud of what I was able to make given my restrictions, but would love the chance to expand on it or make a proper longer sequel. The number one thing that helps towards making a DLC or a full followup game a reality is Cardaire doing well, so I am going to continue to make it the best experience it can be for now.
Full Patch List
I've always hated games who didn't post full patch notes, so I've commited to posting them with updates. These have been included in the minor update Steam announcements, but here is the full list since launch if you we're curious: - Changed The Masked Duelist behavior so that he no longer soft locks the game if you duel him from behind - Fixed a bug that was granting XP for selling cards (Sorry Mulligan, I know you were excited to train in swordsmanship but you will have to stick with dueling.) - Fixed an issue where the VS screen was not removed after a tournament match. -- If you have an issue with it blocking your hud, it should now clear if you re-enter Junction Hub - Disabled sell option in store while troubleshooting further - The collector now correctly hands out set rewards once - Stellar Knight is now correctly given when opened in a booster pack - Fixed a npc in Dusty Trail being marked with a duelist bubble - The Collector should now more consistently be able to read how many special cards you have - Fixed an issue with the special card hand outs - Corrected the label for the Dusty Trail slot effect - Fixed a bug that was causing cards to sell for quite a lot more then intended - Re-activated the selling feature in Pop's Pop Up Card Swap Shop - Re enabled selling cards to the shop (For real this time) -- Selling should now be fixed, but please let me know on the forum if you are getting an unexpected number of cards - Fixed a graphical error when the masked duelist hands out his card - Fixed a minor typo on the Relaxed Duelist - Hid some placeholder overworld sprites that were appearing in Junction Hub - Further fixes to keep a blue box placeholder sprite from appearing on screen in some situations - Minor text fixes in Frontier Wilds
In Other News...
Ashmish made some STELLAR art featuring Mulligan and Stellar White.
