Dassault Milan

The Dassault Milan modification was developed by the Dassault company in collaboration with Swiss engineers and was based on the Mirage III aircraft. Its main feature is a pair of retracable front horizontal surfaces, designed to reduce takeoff distance and increase maneuverability in close air combat. These airfoils received the informal "whiskers" name. The Milan is armed with two 30 mm DEFA cannons. The following options can be used in suspended weaponry: up to two AIM-9B guided air-to-air missiles, one Nord Aviation AS.30 guided air-to-surface missile, 68 mm SNEB unguided rockets and also 250, 400 and 500 kg high explosive bombs.
