About the Game
The steel rails twist and climb relentlessly upward from the heart of the Sacramento River Valley, cross ancient lava fields under the shadow of 14,179-foot Mount Shasta, then descent through the wide-open high plains of the Lower Klamath Basin. Famous and fabulous, the railroad is the rugged Black Butte Subdivision of Southern Pacific’s Mount Shasta Line.
From High Iron Simulations, Mount Shasta Line Scenario Pack 01 brings to life the memorable Southern Pacific railroading of the 1980s and 1990s – with ten new and authentic career scenarios on the popular Train Simulator Classic Mount Shasta Line route!
Mount Shasta Line Scenario Pack 01 features the diverse challenges of handling heavy tonnage on grades of more than 2.2 percent, of taming first- and second-generation Electro-Motive and General Electric diesel power, of hustling intermodal traffic at a mile-a-minute pace, and of keeping Amtrak’s famed Coast Starlight on schedule.
With Mount Shasta Line Scenario Pack 01, you’ll experience:
- Climbing into the cab and engineer’s seat of Southern Pacific’s General Electric U33C, EMD SD40T-2, SD45T-2, and SD9E diesels, as well as Amtrak’s landmark EMD F40PH as you move diverse rail traffic across SP’s extraordinary Black Butte Subdivision.
- With power front and rear on a heavy manifest freight, making the steep climb from Dunsmuir, California, through the Sacramento River Valley to the 5,063-foot summit at Grass Lake, then hustling across the other-worldly lava flow country to Klamath Falls, Oregon.
- Bringing a freight off SP’s famed Siskiyou Line at Black Butte and making the treacherous descent of the Sacramento River Valley to Dunsmuir, including passage around the twisting and steep Cantara Loops.
- Stepping aboard Southern Pacific’s classic first-generation SD9E “Cadillacs” to handle the Black Butte Subdivision’s south-end Weed Local and the north-end Macdoel Local.
- Taking the throttle of Amtrak EMD F40PHs for an early morning climb over the full length of the Mount Shasta Line with Amtrak’s magnificent Superliner-equipped Coast Starlight.
- Bringing to life the short-but-fascinating era of red-and-yellow “Kodachrome” livery diesels on the Southern Pacific as you handle a heavy manifest out of Klamath Falls.
- On a wintry day and under the gaze of towering 14,179-foot Mount Shasta, taking a priority intermodal piggyback train up and over the summit of the Black Butte Division.
The ten career scenarios of Mount Shasta Line Scenario Pack 01, based closely on actual railroad operations and train symbols, offers a remarkable and compelling opportunity to experience realistic American western mountain railroading.
