DCS: P-47D Thunderbolt

The P-47 Thunderbolt, nicknamed the Jug, served the United States Army Air Corps (USAAF) in World War II, and 15,636 were built between 1941 and 1945. France, the United Kingdom, Soviet Union, Mexico and Brazil also operated the P-47. It was armed with an impressive eight .50-caliber machine guns and an armored cockpit and windshield. In addition to the machine guns, the Jug could be armed with bombs and rockets that allowed it to excel in the ground attack role. Close air support was an important mission of the P-47, as its later namesake the A-10. The P-47 also served in the bomber escort role before the introduction of the P-51 Mustang.

Powered by an R-2800-59 Double Wasp radial engine, it gave the aircraft exceptional power and durability. The Jug also had tremendous dive speed ability. The bubble canopy of the D version of the P-47 provided excellent visibility from the cockpit.

The DCS: P-47D-30 is a long-awaited addition to the DCS World War II, and it provides varied and exceptional game play over our World War II battlefields.
