Ricave is an unforgiving, turn-based, first-person, 3D roguelike with procedurally generated dungeons, grid-based movement, time control mechanics, and a user-friendly interface. Inspired by the wild nature of traditional roguelikes and designed around readability, intuitive mechanics, and transparency. Join us on Discord to stay in touch.
Designed for replayability, the dungeons are randomly generated, so each run offers a unique experience, but not in a way that would compromise game balance or difficulty. Every scenario has a solution, though it may sometimes demand exceptional skills and creativity.
Fight, loot, fly, swim, use magic, set traps, finish quests, find secrets, craft, unlock perks, enchant gear, and more. Explore randomly generated dungeons and try to outsmart your enemies - immobilize them, set them on fire, use poison, set a trap, break their bones, lure them next to an explosive barrel and detonate it, push them into toxic water, and more. But most importantly, be ready for tough challenges that require smart decisions.
Ever wished you could hit CTRL+Z while gaming? Here you can! Correct your mistakes and misclicks by rewinding time at will. Ricave is entirely deterministic, which means that if you rewind and make the same move again, the outcome will be exactly the same as before - so no rewinding just to roll higher damage!
Many roguelikes are difficult and so is Ricave. While permadeath usually means starting from scratch when you die, Ricave lets you progress between runs by completing quests, leveling up your character, finding permanent items, and advancing in the storyline. Additionally, you have access to a lobby area where you can buy and personalize your own private room with trophies collected from the dungeons.
A missing leg slows you down, damaged eyes result in blindness, and missing arms impair item interaction. All this applies to your enemies as well, so use this to your advantage in combat! You can also suffer from illnesses, bleeding wounds, broken bones, starvation, and more.
A potion can heal or harm you, boost your strength or induce weakness, intoxicate or speed you up, act as deadly poison, restore mana, and more. A scroll can make you levitate, teleport you randomly, summon a deadly creature, enhance your vision, rewind time, remove a curse, or inflict conditions like freezing, blindness, and burning.
Ricave's code is structured to simplify modding as much as possible. You are welcome to expand the game with your own content and share your creations with the community. The game includes an in-game mod manager.
Ricave features a zero-lag, unintrusive movement input system, ideal for players aiming to master their skills and complete the game quickly.
Roguelikes are challenging, and adding a third dimension increases that complexity. To counter this, we've prioritized a clean, simple, and intuitive interface in Ricave. Stylized graphics ensure high contrast, helping you easily understand your surroundings and focus on strategic gameplay decisions instead. Additionally, Ricave includes an in-game tutorial.
