Hello, Detectives. This is the Gadget Crime Division. What did you think about the story about Project Atlas last time? A critical second mysterious letter has arrived to get one step closer to the case. To. R Pandora's Box, Spero, and Spera "Do not open this box." In ancient Greek mythology, Pandora’s box came with a strict warning, but Pandora couldn’t resist her curiosity and opened it. As a result, all the disasters and misfortunes inside the box were unleashed into the world—diseases, pain, death, sorrow—various calamities spread among humankind. However, when Pandora hurriedly closed the box, only 'hope' remained inside. This allowed humanity to live on without losing hope even amidst hardships. Deep learning is often referred to as a 'black box.' This metaphor is used because when something is input, humans cannot predict the outcome and are unaware of what happens during the process. Although I work on deep learning research and incorporating it into games, I sometimes get a chilling feeling when I sense its powerful capabilities. Can humans control this? Or will humans be the ones being controlled? The names of Victor Morgan’s twins, SPERO and SPERA, are Latin derivatives. SPERO means "I hope," and SPERA means "You hope." Dr. Lauren discovered Experiment X, a Pandora’s box, and the child who embodied selflessness was named SPERA. The words SPERA speaks about contributing to humanity, along with the warning 'system overload,' remain stored in SPERO’s memory data in an unreset state. It’s uncertain whether SPERA existed to become the hope for humanity, as its name suggests. All the thoughts of the robot are taken over by SPERO, and the robot becomes a 'thing' that resembles its father, willing to use any means necessary to achieve its goals. Just like Pandora's box, we humans have already opened the black box of deep learning. Inside, countless possibilities and crises that we cannot comprehend may coexist. The one thing we can hope for is that how we use it is still (for now) in our hands. If we can teach it the good sides of humanity, SPERA, the 'thing,' could become a tool that speaks of hope for mankind… Check out more of Director Q’s story in Uncover the Smoking Gun.
