In the three months separating its disappointing Six Invitational exit and today, the first day of the Rainbow Six Siege Mexico Major, G2 Esports has undergone plenty of changes.
As well as the obvious personnel change, where Finnish duo Aleksi 'UUNO' Työppönen and Juhani 'Kantoraketti' Toivonen have been replaced with Germans Lucas 'Hungry' Reich and Jonas 'Jonka' Kaczmarzyk, there is another key area where the team has improved since the Six Invitational. Speaking to The Loadout in a press conference before G2's first game of the Mexico Major against DarkZero, Jordan 'Kayak' Morley says the team has worked hard to "trust each other" more to execute plans as a team, whether they agree with the overall strategy or not.
"Our [biggest] improvement is just knowing where we're going to go in a round and focusing on one plan at a time," Kayak explains. "The shot-call role, the IGLing, and decision making of the whole team has improved drastically since the Six Invitational. And ultimately that's what faulted us [at SI]: making bad decisions, falling back on plans, and not trusting each other."
