When the summer Next Fest took place, Takoyaki Surprise was in pretty good shape, and the demo felt really strong and tight. I took a lot of the feedback to heart and made some pretty substantial changes to the game to hopefully make the experience for players even smoother. I'd like to go over a few of these edits and also share a little bit about the state of the game. We certainly tried to pick a good volume that would be comfortable for everyone, but quickly learned that everyone's personal sound settings made that a difficult goal to reach, so now the game has a soft set-up when you first begin the game, allowing you to pick your languages, learn the basic controls and then pick a music and sound volume that feels right for you. So now, if you progress through the first world and never perform one the game will teach you how to do this so you can shred snacks better! We're now a month away from World Octopus Day and all of that has been done along with extensive degrees of testing. I think the game is very near getting a release build which feels thrilling and exciting to be so confident in the state of the game. If you haven't played the demo feel free to check that out. The final game and release date is fast approaching as we are near World Octopus Day (and also Tako Tuesday). The ultimate goal of this game was to create an experience that felt close to what it felt like playing games on the Sega Genesis growing up. You could beat those games in one pretty healthy session if you wanted to, or break it up into a few sessions comfortably.
