Please take a few seconds to let it sink in your visual cortex (it’s the least you can do for the artist). What is a Tractor Beam Surfer, you ask? Why is the cow wearing a sports helmet with a go-pro camera on it? Were any animals harmed in the making of this card? We have to admit – Those are all great questions! When UFOs fly over a farm, they always end up beaming up the farmer's cows with their tractor beam. Right? We bet some of you might have seen this trope played out in many movies. Though early alien encounters never reported abductions of our credulous cattle; they have somehow become a popular satirical trope in movies dealing with ufos and extraterrestrial abductions. Let’s be honest – the visual imagery of an oblivious mooing cow being pulled up towards a flying saucer spinning in the sky has to be one great family-bonding experience. Now, the cows have had it enough with this joke. Therefore, our cow ‘Margit’ decided to break this alien ritual and turn the whole process of being abducted by aliens into an extreme sport – officially called ‘Tractor Beam Surfing’. And word has it, an energy drink company already has agreed to sponsor this sensational recreational activity.
Gameplay
Like many comedy-genre cards in ScreenPlay, Tractor Beam Surfer has an ability that bends the conventional rules of the game and surprises the opponent in some way. However, with Tractor Beam Surfer, when you first frame it into a scene, you select an enemy character. Once the scene starts rolling and Tractor Beam Surfer drops onto the set, it gets to inflict a surprise attack on that chosen enemy, only to swiftly return back to your hand at the end of filming. This makes Tractor Beam Surfer a tricky card to get rid of; since at the end of the scene, it will just return safely to your hand, ready to attack again in the next scene! The ability to attack every single scene is in itself a very valuable and rare effect, and lends itself to many crazy tricks and combos, as comedy cards often do. You’ll have to figure them out in-game yourself, though, we’re not going to ruin the surprise for your opponents! It’ll be cloudy with a chance of cattle, and nobody’s safe from spacewalking cows!
