Upon logging in you may notice a dramatic increase in framerate; that’s because Multicore support has gone live in RIFT! After years of work by our Engineers, and uncountable numbers of hours of testing from your fellow Ascended, Multicore is ready for full release. While the diversity of systems and settings out there make it impossible to quote an exact figure, many of our testers report performance upgrades of 25-50% or more! So get ready Ascended, and enjoy the improved frame rates. We’ve got better performance for you today, and are already hard at work on our next big technical milestone, a full 64 bit client! Best of all, you don’t have to do anything – your client will automatically update. This is a huge benefit to all RIFT players, but especially to those who previously chose to use the Low Quality Renderer. Almost everyone should now see better performance with the standard renderer and Multicore enabled over the previous Low Quality Renderer. The purpose of the LQR was to optimize CPU usage, which is no longer necessary with multicore. Fear not though, the LQR isn’t going away, and you can always get it back by going to Settings, Video, Advanced. If you experience any issues with Multicore enabled you can also disable it in the same location. Thanks to everyone who helped us test Multicore, and cheers to a brighter, smoother, and more detailed future for RIFT
