Welcome back, pirates!
Today, we’re back with another update, just in time for Pirates vs Ninjas Fest! In this post we’ll be looking at how to build a fleet in Republic of Pirates, providing an overview of the shipyard, shipbuilding materials, ship classes and customisation. PLEASE NOTE: While we are still working on the game, some of the terms, names, and quantities outlined below may be subject to change!
The Open Seas: Why Your Fleet Matters
A pirate is nothing without their vessel, and in both campaign and freeplay mode, a strong fleet will be essential for expanding your influence across the archipelago and completing important quest objectives. Once you have a few ships under your command, you can strike out in search of loot and flotsam, engage in real-time naval combat with your rivals, conquer neighbouring islands, and defend your shores against enemy raids. Place it on any available shoreline belonging to your island(s) to get started. Within the shipyard building UI, you’ll be able to select the ship class of your choice, assign it a captain you have recruited, customise its cosmetics through unlocked sail and hull patterns, and begin construction. Four out of the eight hull classes make use of resources that you can supply using the production buildings within your own settlements, while the others require materials that are looted from destroyed enemy vessels. If you’re looking to build the top tier Galleon and Man-Of-war you’ll also need an additional building in the form of the advanced shipyard, so make sure you plan ahead! All ships vary in appearance and stats so you can experiment with different combinations and develop new compositions to suit your strategy. We’ll give you a brief overview of six of the eight ship classes while the remaining two tiers, are still being implemented. Cog: The cog is the first ship you’ll build as you begin your pirate adventure. Although the cog represents the lowest ship tier, compared to the other ships in the shipyard, its maintenance cost and construction time are significantly lower.
