Hey everyone Alex here from Wolfware Studios. First up we want to thank you for all of the great reception we have garnered since the released of Memento Mori. With over 1000 downloads several art works and videos as well as reviews ranging from positive to negative, it’s hardly worth saying that it surpassed all expectations we had in terms of the release for our first title. Now moving on to the actual update: Performance Improvements As stated as well as observed by us and people that have played the game in the past month, performance has been quite appalling for the game despite the limited graphics and size. Therefore, the last month since the release of the game has been spend by me learning as well as applying different optimisation techniques in order to bring the game to a performance standard of a modern game. Currently since the update, the game is able to smoothly run at stable 60fps all thorught the game except for two small sections (However they should not be noticeable). As this is the first ever game to frankly reach anywhere near the releasing stage I must admit I fully overlooked optimisation and want to apologise for that. Although it most likely still requires some attention as we are unable to test how the game runs on really low end pc we are hoping you as our community as well as any future players will provide feedback regarding the performance. General Changes Now moving away from the main part of the update thorough all of the videos that have been uploaded to YouTube of people playing the game we noticed several missing elements to even a game breaking bug that needed immediate attention. As most of these changes are quite minor and did not require as much of an attention as performance (besides the game breaking one) they will be listed under the general changes section. • Placed missing guitars inside apartment 2 to 4 • Placed missing sofa pillows in reflection apartment • Made it so players are able to use both escape and the “Resume” Button to leave the Pause menu. • Fixed misplaced wall in reflection house getting rid of a weird gap. • Fixed walking animation and sound playing after interacting with TV in the forest. • Fixed walking animation and sound playing after interacting with bookcase leading to the Easter egg room. • Fixed tiny adjacent gaps going across the mountain. Game breaking bugs Although only possible in the second repeating apartment players were able to grab the next key before the door behind them is triggered and closed by a collider. This was caused due to my negligence that people would try to close the door behind them only after they had picked up the second key causing the event of the door to consume the key you had leaving you softlocked inside the second apartment unable to progress with the game. In order to fix this issue I revisited the code and forced the event of the locked door to trigger only ones, meaning it cannot use up more than one key. This issue was pointed out through one of our testers as well as a YouTuber who played through the game. However it is quite a weird sequence so most likely only a few people would have noticed it. Conclusion This concludes the first update of the game and once again we would like to thank everyone who spared sometime of their day to play, review as well as upload any form of content of the game on social media or the steam community tab. We have watched all of them and could not express the appreciation we have to all of you.
