Hello Builders! 👋

It’s been a while since you’ve heard of us but we’re back with another devlog and this time, we’ll talk about the weather! ⛈️

In our game, we’d like to give you an experience of what the life of the Mayans of that time looked like. Therefore, we cannot skip one of the most crucial factors- the weather. 🤩
Life of the Ancient Mayans society was dictated by two seasons: rainy season 🌧️ and dry season. ☀️ They both had their pros and cons and people were always doing their best to exploit those advantages. 💧 To protect your city from the draught you’ll be forced to look for alternative sources of water. One of such sources were cenote- natural wells. They were natural rock formations in which the water was getting collected. During the golden era of Mayan Empire, cenotes were not only used as a well but also believed to be gates to the realm of Gods! 🙏 It was also the time when the ground was solid. Therefore, it was the time of wars, trading and politics between different cities. ⚔️

As for the rainy season… 🤔 It was a time when most of the conflicts, trades and escapades were halted.

And the reason for that? The overwhelming, omnipresent and never ending rain covering every square cm of the land veiling the earth in the shadows. ⛈️
The overflowing water was turning ground into mud pools making moving dangerous and nigh impossible. To make sure your progress won’t be stopped we suggest investing in stone roads. 🛣️
This season is also the perfect time to collect water necessary to survive the dry season. With the use of tanks carved in the stone by people called chultuns you’ll have a possibility to do so! 👍
Those inconspicuously looking structures built on the circular plan allow to collect incredible amounts of water inside them. They are your best shot to make sure your people won’t suffer from thirst! That brings us to the end of this devlog.
