Welcome Back!
Hi all, it's Lucas again! It's been about 6 months since the last blog update, and this one's a doozy! So without further ado..
Happy Birthday Roanoke!
Just about one year ago today we launched "The Story of Roanoke", a historical fiction walking simulator we made as an entry to our friends at Kreator Bus' "People's Jam". We're really proud of Roanoke so if you never played now's a great chance! Play the Game Unlike most of our other projects TSoR included work from not only us here at Team Azule, but some lovely outside collaborators. Namely DK, who created the portrait that ends the game, Alex Mclouth who played William Dutton In the final cutscene, and Maxwell Dexter the phenomenal composer who brought the game's beautiful score to life. Speaking of which...
Deitrus Gets Bigger!
We're beyond thrilled to officially announce that Maxwell Dexter is working with Team Azule as the sound designer for (what we're calling) Deitrus Act 1! Maxwell is a veteran music man, not only having created the beautiful scores for our games Story of Roanoke and A Life's Filmography, but also the creator of the "eclectic electronica" albums Computer Human and Super User, plus a contract sound designer for Monster Games' World of Outlaws: Dirt Racing! Find Him Here Maxwell has been insanely gracious with his time towards Deitrus and we can't wait for you to hear his magical compositions! We were quite literally giddy in the studio listening to his music for the first time.
That's not all...
We've also opened up a portal for you to submit applications to be a part of Team Azule, Deitrus, or whatever else we end up making! While we're not currently hiring or contracting but if and when we do we'll be looking at any submissions first. To learn more take a look at our website and click the "Careers" tab! CAREERS TAB
What About Deitrus?
Deitrus is going great, the last few months in particular we've been rocketing through milestones! It's thrilling to see ideas and pieces that we created over a year ago come together. As you no doubt recall, I mentioned a few moments ago that we were creating "Deitrus Act 1". So what does this all mean? We want your help! Creating video games is a very difficult business, with a lot of complications! To mitigate this we've divided our game into multiple smaller sections, and, fun fact, every piece of marketing that we've shown so far has been exclusively from the first section! Unfortunatley with so much work clearly left to do on Deitrus it'd be a shame to make you all wait so long to at least try the game. That's why we'll be holding a closed alpha for the first Act (Section) of Deitrus, though no sooner than the first half of 2023. This closed alpha will be exclusive to our discord, and the goal of it is both to gather feedback, and to get a sense of where to go next... If you're interested in joining the Alpha test sign up here: https://forms.gle/ZGvJPb7aezUSDPGK6 and join the discord if you haven't: https://discord.gg/PtPkJs8zxz That being said don't expect the full version of Deitrus for a very long time. We have a plan for the game but it's going to be quite the marathon. Stay tuned for more on it soon...
Finally...
I just wanted to take some time to acknowledge the incredible work of one opkjm#4789 on the Team Azule Discord: Their fan art has not only been exceptional, but these works actually been referenced to help communicate the tone and feel of Deitrus in internal meetings. I can't describe how much we've enjoyed these pieces!
See You Later!
That's all for this edition of the blog! We've got a lot of work to do so it may also be a bit long until the next one, but we hope it'll be worth the wait. We have plenty of surprises up our sleeve still...
